The Art of Politics

The Art of Politics
The Art of Politics, watercolor, 45" x 33", 2.2011

You probably are well aware of the current uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt, and elsewhere in the Middle East. With the 24/7 coverage, you may have missed the news about the Egyptian Museum being broken into and vandalized. As an artist, I was mortified at the idea of an attack on culture, and as a world citizen enraptured by the voices of the people. The paradox of this conflict moving into the museum, the freedom of ideas vs the destruction of culture, inspired me to paint this painting.
